When a mom mentioned buying her daughter a new shirt to match her new glasses in the comments of the “Girls with Glasses” post, I just knew a new dress would help make the transition to glasses a little more easy to swallow for Pumpkin too.
She loved having something special to wear on the day of the “great glasses pickup”, something that was made especially to match her tortoise shell glasses.
Top: Rib tank from Old Navy embellished with estate sale doily.
Skirt: made from an unfinished table topper – the original crafter got it all hand embroidered, but never cut and finished (another estate sale find).

I love the outfit… I have made myself several skirts out of embroider material but I never figured out how to use all the doilies I have… Thanks for the ideas
What a ferociously fabulous idea! I just fell in love with the Internet all over again. I have a stack of vintage doilies and embroidered hankies that belonged to my grandmother, and I have never been able to part with them but didn’t know what I wanted to do with them, either. I doubt my 7 and 9 year old boys will let me decorate their tank tops with doilies (ahem!), but your project inspires me. Maybe I can do a grownup version of this top for myself, maybe a montage of several doilies/hankies?? Hmmm… Thanks for sharing!
