$1.49 thrift store find. Before: Dowdy After: Demure Basic Steps: 1. Run two gathering stitches along each side seam starting at the hem and going up about 12″. 2. I was completely inspired by Bernadette Noll and Kathie Sever of Future Craft Collective (via CRAFT. My version, made out of thrifted sheets & fabric scraps and with stitched calendar lines, took some time and patience, but hopefully it will be something we can pull out each summer for years to come. more pics here

I guess I’m in a skirtall mood. This one’s made from the top of some hand-me down boys overalls (overdyed in brown) and a bunch of handkerchiefs from my collection. I’d still like to figure out how to oxidize the hardware.More pictures here.More Handkerchief Projects here.

One of the souvenirs I brought back from NYC was this 70’s dress kit from a Long Island City (and incredibly stinky) thrift store.I couldn’t quite picture myself pulling off the double-knit polyester mod look. But I knew my six year old could rock it. Flower pocket came pre-embroidered.Kit included zipper, thread, interfacing, etc.Sweet.
