During a recent online search that had nothing to do with embroidered Chucks, I wandered through cyberspace, chasing links, bouncing between blogs and happened upon these inspirational photos. I immediately knew what I had to make for my girlfriend’s newly adopted daughter.
Tips for those that might embark on a shoe embroidery project: Use a chenille needle. It’s similar in length to a tapestry needle but has a very sharp point and a larger eye. I used DMC pearl cotton thread which has a nicer finish than regular embroidery floss. Finally, have a pair of needlenose pliers ready to save your fingertips!

Those are effing adorable. I was recently on a Chucks kick myself. Made these for a shower.

That’s so cool! I’ve seen some crazy-detailed painted Chucks, too. Back in the day (like, 1994) I took some glow in the dark fabric paint to mine.
So cute. My daughter would love a pair of these!
As the very happy recipient of these, I LOVE them. I want a pair myself, but I will be satisfied watching Sadie wear them. Thanks to my wonderful Carrie – she never disappoints 🙂
